What is a Panko scavenger hunt?

Panko scavenger hunts are organized into a series of clues, specific to a destination. Each hunt consists of ~30 clues, organized into three categories: (1) Visit, (2) Explore, and (3) Discover. Visit clues focus on major tourist destinations and historical sites. Explore clues provide exposure to different neighborhoods and how people live. Discover clues allow kids to become their own experiences and find their favorites of what a place offers.

How do I join a hunt?

To join a hunt, simply create an account for yourself (guardian account) and your kid(s) (kid account), find the hunt you want to join and complete your first clue. Voila. You are now participating in the hunt.

How do I earn points?

To participate in a hunt, read the clue, take a picture of yourself or your child near the answer to the clue and submit the photo to complete the clue and earn points. Additional points can be earned by answering the ~3 bonus questions, which typically focus on historical and interesting facts about a particular clue.

Can other people participate in a hunt with me?

Private hunts can be created and shared with friends using a QR code that can be generated within the application.

Who can see my photos?

Panko Scavenger hunts are private and the pictures from a hunt are only visible to kids in your family and the parents/guardians associated with a particular child. Leaderboards are public and accessible to all participants in a hunt. However, only first names, avatars and total point counts can be seen on the leaderboard.

How often are new Panko hunts released?

Currently new hunts are added about once a month, and are based on requests from users. To submit a request for a hunt click her (link to Going Somewhere).

How do you choose clues for a hunt?

Clues are chosen based on a combination of a lot of research and feedback from other Panko users. None of our clues are “sponsored” or paid for by the places of interest we feature.

Are there an ads or in-app purchases?

Nope. None. Panko was created by parents who were frustrated by the random ads that would appear in seemingly-innocuous mobile applications geared toward kids. We didn’t like it when it was done to us, so we won’t do that to you, or your kids.
